An email health score is a 0–100 rating that measures how well your domain is configured for email delivery. It checks authentication records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), infrastructure (MX records and redundancy), and reputation (blacklist status) to give you a single score that reflects your domain’s email readiness.
A score of 90–100 (A grade) means your domain has excellent email configuration. 80–89 (B grade) means good setup with minor improvements possible. 70–79 (C grade) means important protections are missing. Below 70 means critical issues that likely cause deliverability problems. Aim for 90+ by ensuring all three authentication protocols are configured with strong policies.
Three categories are scored: Authentication (50 points) covers SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records and their strictness. Infrastructure (25 points) checks for MX records and mail server redundancy. Reputation (25 points) checks whether your domain or IP appears on email blacklists. Authentication carries the most weight because it directly prevents spoofing and improves inbox placement.
Start with the biggest gaps: add any missing SPF, DKIM, or DMARC records. Then strengthen existing records — upgrade SPF to hard fail (-all), use 2048-bit DKIM keys, and set DMARC to quarantine or reject policy. If you’re on any blacklists, follow the delisting instructions provided in your report. Use our individual tools for step-by-step help with each protocol.
Check monthly as a baseline, and re-check after any DNS changes, email provider migrations, or if you notice deliverability issues. Blacklist status can change at any time, so regular monitoring helps catch problems before they impact your email delivery.
